Hello, I’m Monica.
I love Scotland and I love sharing her treasures.

Originally from Dundee and now living in Edinburgh, my love of traveling throughout Scotland started at an early age. My parents would bundle me and my siblings in the car to take us on adventures – rain or shine – into the Angus Glens, over the River Tay to St. Andrews, or across Oban with flasks of tea and boiled egg sandwiches. I grew up with a love of storytelling, good food, history, music, and travel, and I’ve always enjoyed meeting new people on my adventures around Scotland (and the world).

I studied Scottish History and Literature at Edinburgh University years ago and now, after a long a varied career, I feel very lucky that I can now combine my passions doing what I love as a private tour guide. I know my history, I love our literature, and I love good food and have been known to partake in a wee dram or two. And, of course, I know our pubs and how to find a good live fiddlers and singers.

recently had the pleasure of taking a large group of students to Edinburgh Castle with Monica who was an exceptional guide. I cannot recommend the experience highly enough. From the moment we met, Monica's passion for history and storytelling was evident. Her knowledge of Scotland and the castle's rich history, combined with her engaging and friendly demeanor, made the tour both educational and entertaining.

Monica expertly navigated us through stories behind the castle's many highlights, including the Crown Jewels, the Stone of Destiny (albeit no longer there), and the stunning views from the battlements. She shared fascinating anecdotes and lesser-known facts that brought the castle's history to life, making each stop on the tour feel like a step back in time.

Although we were a large group (22), Monica connected well with everyone. She was attentive to our questions and interests, ensuring that each of us felt included and engaged. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and it was clear that she genuinely enjoyed sharing her love of Edinburgh Castle with us.
